Daily Work

November 29th:
Today, we started brainstorming ideas for the escape module. The ideas were to put the egg in a small container that would go in the rocket or we would have the egg be ejected out of the rocket.
November 30th:
We came to the decision that the egg would be ejected out of the rocket when the nose of the rocket comes off. The egg will come down with the parachute to slow down the fall. We also started our 2D sketch.
December 1st:
Today, Isaac continued working on the 2D sketch of our rocket. We also started working on our infographic. During science, we researched the information needed to be put on our infographic. We needed to research the difference between Mars and Earth.
December 2nd:
Today, we finished research for the information we will be putting on our infographic. Isaac also made finishing touches on the 2D sketch, and Debbie worked on the website. Logan, Nathan and Corrina started putting the information on our infographic.
December 5th:
Today, Logan and Corrina continued working on our infographic, and Nathan started working on the 3D model of our rocket. Isaac worked on the top view sketch of our rocket, and Debbie worked on the website.
December 6th:
Today, Logan, Isaac and Corriana continued working on our infographic. Debbie worked on the website, and Nathan completed the 3D model and will make finishing touches to it tomorrow.
December 7th:
Nathan made finishing touches on 3D model, and Debbie worked on the website. We also completed our info graphic and decided to have our egg covered in peanut butter and put it in a tennis ball to better protect our egg.
December 8th:
Everyone did research on what materials we would need to create our Hab. We also started making negotiations with the countries (teachers) to get supplies to build our Hab. After negotiating, we got canvas from Ms. Lawrence or "India." Isaac also started on our orthographic drawing for our Hab.
December 9th:
Corrina continued researching on the things we would need to make our Hab successful. Isaac made finishing touches on our orthographic drawing, and Debbie worked on the website.
December 12th:
Today, Corrina researched about the water reclaimer, and Logan was looking for quotes in the book for our HAB. Nathan worked on the 3D model and Isaac made revisions to our orthographic drawing. Debbie worked on the website. Logan took home the supplies to make our egg contraption and do a pre test. Tomorrow we will be doing a test during class.
December 13th:
Today in science we started building our Hab. Debbie worked on the website, and Logan and Isaac fixed the parachute for our egg contraption during lunch. We also had our egg drop test. We put our egg in a tennis ball and covered it with peanut butter. Then we put the tennis ball in a paper container and attached the parachute to it. Unfortunately, our egg contraption didn't work and our egg cracked. The ball bounced up so we think the impact cause it to crack. At this moment we are thinking of a new way to protect our egg.
December 14th:
Today in science, Debbie worked on building the foundation of the HAB, and then Logan, Isaac and Corrina built a paper mache dome so our HAB will be pressurized. In TED, we came up with a plan to better support our egg. We are going to use bubble wrap and foam to put around our egg which will prevent it from cracking. Logan and Isaac also started to work on building the engine of our rocket.
December 15th:
Today, Nathan, Corrina, Logan and Isaac continued constructing the HAB while Debbie worked on writing the background info for our structure. Instead of going with our original plan of having a paper mache under the canvas; we decided to just have canvas. That gives us more time to make it look nice and neat and also make it pressurized. In TED, Isaac and Logan are working on building the rocket, and Debbie was working on the website. Nathan was working on the 3D model of a nose so we can get it 3D printed and attached to our rocket. Isaac also is working on a 2D model.
December 16th:
Today, we made our Twitter account and made improvements to our website. Logan and Nathan continued working on our Hab in science. In TED, Logan and Isaac were building the rocket, while Nathan was managing the Twitter account and Debbie worked on the website.
December 19th:
Today, during science we worked on our website and Twitter account and finished our Hab. In TED, we continued building our rocket. Unfortunately the nose we 3D printed was not the right size, so we had to 3D print another one.
December 20th:
Today, we worked on the website during science. Debbie worked on the contract and negotiations page. Logan, Isaac, and Corrina made revisions to the website and Nathan added the links for the Twitter and Youtube account. During TED, Nathan worked on the parachute, Debbie worked on Engineering Design Process page and Logan and Isaac worked on the egg contraption and body of the rocket.
January 3th:
Today, our teachers talked to us and told us that our rocket needs to be less than 3 ounces. To ensure that it is less than 3 ounces, we changed our egg to a quail egg which weighs 0.3 ounces. Isaac is making adjustments to our isometric drawing, and Nathan is recalculating our center of pressure and center of gravity. Debbie is working on the website and Logan is working on the expenditure sheet.
